Shilpi Sharma
I’m a visual artist based out of Cheltenham, nestled against the picturesque Cotswold. Ever since my early days, I always enjoyed drawing and painting and found zen in creating and making various things. Be it paintings, hand-made things like crafts, embroideries, bead work etc. I constantly try to improve my work with regular readings, workshops, visit to museums, studying and observing forms.
My Inspirations
I draw my inspiration from my travels, different places of interest, inspiration from landscapes, nature in its pristine untouched form, buildings and architecture that have survived through the times, various facets of humans faces and emotions. Also try to capture the nuances of the things we tend to overlook in day to day life. They all inspire and excite me to paint and interpret them in my own creative way.
My Art Style
Watercolour is my preferred medium as it has a certain fluidity and looseness and I love the different effects and colour which I can get by mixing colours on paper and get diverse effects. I also try to bring interest in my work by incorporating Mix Media and experimenting with visual textures, shapes, and colours in many of my works. In my artworks I aim to capture the essence of the subject, by creative expressions, rather than exact representation. It brings me joy and a meditative connect, which I constantly try for the viewers to have a similar connect with my paintings and inspires them to ponder and feel contented.
